hunting permits

hunting permits

Hunting is definitely not for everyone. But for those that partake in the oldest sport in human history, they can find something special. When you are out in the middle of a forest, desert or field there is time for introspection, meeting new people, spending time with friends & family and being able to get away from it all. If you are seeking hunting permits today, then it seems that you have found it. Thank you for visiting our site today.
hunting permits

hi,new to hunting what gun should i get?

ok,im 16, i live in california and i would really love to start hunting.my dad supports me in this he would come with me to of course.thing is we dont know much about hunting, guns, etc.

so what would be a good beginner gun to use for hunting that doesnt have much recoil, inexpensive ammunition, and can get me to learn the basics.

would we have to take safety classes, and where can we get a hunting permit, and where are legal firing ranges and hunting sites in southern california?
thanks

OK. I have hunted for over 25 years, and have shot all sorts of game, but I need to know what you are hunting. If you just want to start out with basic upland birds and bunnies, A shot gun is in order. If deer is your thing, then a rifle may be the best solution.

I would start by figuring out what you want. There is nothing on gods green earth that a 12 Gauge with proper loads won’t kill.

As a new commer to the sport, I would look into H&R 1871 guns. These are break open single shot shotguns, and rifles. If you are a small 16 year old feller, I suggest a youth stock. If you are big enough to hold a full sized stock, go regular.

I suggest the H&R because you could get a 20 Gauge shotgun for about 150 to 175 dollars. But what is nice, is that if you decide to go with a 12 Gauge, a new barrel could be fitted to your existing gun, for about 100 dollars. There are barrels for water foul, turkey, deer, or just regular upland stuff.

A long time ago, I worked in a gun/bow shop and sold lots of these guns. They work great, and will be able to be modified as you and your needs grow.

If by chance you are on the small side, and need a smaller youth stock, I would look online at Guns Of America, or Gunbrokers . com for a used one. People often sell youth guns as that the lad or lass that used them, is all grown up, and are shooting bigger guns.

The ammo for 20 and 12 gauge is very abundant, and can even be reloaded if you shoot a lot.

As far as permits are concerned, I would check with the DEP to find out what requirements you need to get started.

I am glad your Dad supports it, and I am sure that if you go through the class, make the time to go hunting safely, you will have a great time.

I was fortunate to be raised in a home where hunting was a regular part of life. Looking back, I never had a better time with my father than when I was in the fields hunting. It can be the best experience for you and your father. If you never harvest game, It is still fun to shoot at paper targets/cans etc.

As far as Charlie and his answer is concerned, I find it hard to believe he used a rifle in the story. I guess some people like to make stuff up to express their views. I kill and eat game. Most people eat what huge companies kill for them and sell at the local store.

I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would use the hunting forum to discourage what he/she does not have the heart or strength to do. Try it! You may find that a smoked turkey breast is very good, and bringing one home satifies a primal hunter instict in most strong alpha men.

Good luck.
